  • VPN Front GUI 2005-01-05

Thinking that the VPN client used in my school was somehow not very efficient, I have decided to write a front GUI to that application. I wanted it to be less obtrusive and fit into the Apple Human Guideline. After some hours of works in front of Xcode, EvPnFL was born.

Here you can see an screenshot of EvPnFL in action. The application is under the form of a small tool in the right side of the menu bar.

    EvPnFL GUI

This implementation is possible because the original VPN application can be controlled via command-line. With some NSTask instances, starting and closing the connection is very easily done. However EvPnFL still has some flaws, particularly when feedback has to be sent by the original VPN client.

This project is now stand-by, but you can still test the current version by downloading it here (MacOS X 10.3 only): download (74 kB) PRE-ALPHA SOFTWARE. USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I could not be held responsible for any kind of harm that could be done by this application to anything, including you or your computer.

The application requires the Cisco VPNClient (4.0.5) to be installed in the Applications folder of your hard disk

If you would like to contribute to this application by implementing some other features, just mail me!
